In Queenstown there is a constant sense of friction; a rubbing together of opposing forces. In every face, facade, mountain, and hill there is evidence of the grinding of elements and emotions. Steeped in tradition from generations of industry, a change has come to this place. The tidelines from these changes tell a story of stoicism and anxiety, riches and hardship, environment and industry. It is an utterly inspiring place to make work in.

Gold is a re-showing of paintings inspired by twisted mountains and football players reeling in pain. Along with some AI generated video works from a GAN re-trained on the photos of various local mines. All produced in Queenstown as part of the Q Bank Gallery residency program.
